Black women’s intersecting identities of race and gender inevitably creates a paradox between who they are and how they present themselves socially and professionally. Using conditions of visibility as a basis to examine black women’s representation in public relations, the study reviews the state of diversity and makes applicable links between the industry diversity’s gap discourse and approach to black women’s wider socio-historical context implications in order to design a solution that places black women at the nucleus of their own PR visibility issues by creating a platform wherein their experiences and expertise can be highlighted: Black Women in Public Relations (BWPR).
